Microsoft Windows 8 (64-bit)

my hp laptop started by taking too long to boot then after around 3 days it did not boot after i switched it on. instead it displayed the windows icon and never stopped loading. the next time i switched it on it started the automatic repair only to end up showing that the windows could not repair  the problem automatically. After taking the pc to my mechanic, he showed me an error that short Dst had failed. The message on the screen showed that the SMART Check had passed.

i thought its the version of windows in my pc that was making my laptop take so long to load and end up dispaying a black screen but now my mechanic told me that it might be an issue with the hard disk.He advised me  to allow him format the hard disk and try installing another version of windows.

Kindy advise on the steps i should take.

The failure id on the screen is 9U7TTK-0008KW-XD7V6J-60T003

Hi,

Sadly to say: Most of the time the 24 char failure id indicates the HDD is failing and need to be replaced. Is it still under warranry ? If Yes, please call HP for a replacement.
