Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)
Getting error code 0xFFEE018 in a popup with an ok button, after clicking ok get another error code 0xFFEE023.

The motherboards in two machines were just replaced and now getting this error on both machines when attempting to run the recovery media.

After talking to hp support they sent a second recovery USB Drive but it did not help.

We have run the DMI tool and loaded the serial number, etc into the new motherboards. Note that this tool is only available to authorized service providers and we are one.

I was able to resolve the issue, there were problems with the feature byte.

I guess I should say teacher fights since it affected two machines.

In one case the problem was when we read the internal label we interpreted one letter to be a lower case n and it was actually an h.

In the other case a different character had been misentered.

After correcting the feature byte we were able to run the recovery media.

Got the same error ( 0xFFEE018 ) after MB replacement.  All DMI data was filled, but after checking found, that  BID and Feature Byte were  with errors. BID and Feature Byte are printed on label (sticker on case under battery)   , but  there some  letters were missing. Solution was to get correct data from Serial number Repository site (only for HP partners ).   After entering correct data recovery run  without errors.

My HP Stream did not have a MB replacement, just a Hard Drive and the 0XFFEE018 error comes up. After clicking OK it restarts and the same error comes up again. We are a business partner of HP and Lenovo.

I think that there can be issue with DMI information stored on MB too. You must bring yours  notebook to HP's service centre , which has HP's tools to check and write  notebooks DMI information. This tool may be not accessible to HP Business partnes,  HP service partners have it for shure...  Some information can be seen at BIOS settings page(s).

Check is there are "BID" and "PID" strings listed.  If you send S/N of yours notebook , it is possible to check them.

@CyberBob1

The stream does not have a hard drive it has emmc memory which is soldered to the motherboard.

So while you think your hard drive was replaced and not the motherboard they were replaced as a single unit.

You say you are a business partner but are you a service provider?

You are correct. Someone told me he had just had a bad HDD but he meant he replaced the entire board. I am waiting for the USB to update the info on the MB.
