Hi
Well if the update is causing problems, and the drivers Paul suggested are failing also, it would seem to be a software problem, rather than hardware, EG: loose wifi card and disappearing from device manager.
So, a software solution, possibly legacy drivers. Find the original drivers for the OS you upgraded from and try to install.

There is a known issue regarding the Realtek RTL8188EE 802.11bgn WiFi Adapter that HP is putting into their notebook computers.
As a matter of fact, it has been a well know issue since June 2014! I finally had enough! After months of problems, having my cable company come out and do diagnostics on my router, having Microsoft take remote control of my computer and spending 5 hours trying to make the drivers work, and after going out and spending $50 on a Netgear EXTERNAL WiFi adapter, I found only one cause...the external WiFi adapter is FAULTY.
There is a 10 page thread on this HP Forum of people having the same issues! [content removed]
I called the HP corporate office this morning (650-857-1501) after HP's customer service wanted to charge me to attempt to fix it...even though my computer is less than a year old!
I was transferred to a US Case Manager and explained the issue and how it is a known issue since June 2014 and HP continues to put faulty WiFi adapters into their products. [content removed].
With that, she sent me an email with my case number, and stated she was sending me a RMA box and shipping label (overnight) to return my laptop to HP. They will fix the laptop at NO COST, and replace the external WiFi card. They are also going to replace my headphone jack since that just stopped working last week (another known issue).
You have to be tough with HP or nothing will get fixed...and they walk all the way to the bank with your money! HP must be held accountable for knowingly putting faulty components in their products.
