When is the best time to purchase the care pack? Do I have to purchase it at the same time as the notebook purchase?

It is best at time of purchase of the laptop.

 

But it is not required.

 

In either case after purchase make sure to check the warranty status??

Not saying that HP forgets or gets the dates wrong but it is best to check and make sure: :Wink:

Why is it best to purchase at the same time? Doesn’t the care pack run concurrently with the 1 year warranty. If I purchase the 3 year care pack I am actually only getting 2 years of extended coverage.

It should be as HP advertises  " Care Pack services provides the extended coverage you need at an affordable price. Why not protect yourself with coverage that goes beyond the standard warranty. "

At time of purchase is better because then you can make sure of warranty time.
