Hi All
I am trying to factory reset my HP dv6 laptop through recovery disc. It's go well half way however when it complete "Factory image recovery preparation" and restart compueter..than after I can see system driver installation window that go for while. Once this phase get complete, computer restart and go to preparation for first use..after than I can see winodw start up logo and that stay there forever.
I found that os get installed in drive d: through this process. Nothing has changes. Laptop was factory reset twice before and that worked fine but don't know why this time it keel freeze at start up. Please help.

Have you run Diagnostics on the hard drive to test it? Either by tapping F2 immediately after powering on -or if no Diagnostics available there tap F10 to enter BIOS and look for Diagnostics.

If the hard drive passes Diagnostics testing-Download and Save this file. Once download is complete, put a blank cd in your drive and click the file to create a boot cd. Boot with this cd and wait until you get a green check mark indicating hdd is ready. Remove the cd , insert first Recovery Disk and restart the laptop.

CherylG - I have started diagnostics. Short test finished and it's doing long test executing...

Hi CherylG,
Hdd diagnostic was pass both short and extended. I also made bootable cd of cyberlink recovery utility and boot and got it chcked. Got a green ckeck and then start installing windows 7 again through recovery disc. But it still stuck at starting windows. Please help.

At this stage I would download AOMEI partitioning software. After installing open it and use the feature "Make bootable Media" to create a boot disk to work with the hdd. I would remove all partitions and then create just one and format it. Read through the review of AOMEI here:

That didn't work. made one partition and install os again but still it stuck at atarting windows logo...

When you ran Diagnostics did you test the memory as well as hard drive? If not go back and also test memory. If it passes- all that is left to do is replace the hard drive which seems suspect.
