Changing account type fails. I am logged in as Administratior & password protected.
Cannot change Windows Update Settings - now: Install updates automaticalaly - because I do not have the Admin privilige.
Sure enough, when I go into User Accounts and select Change Account type I am just a Standard User.
If I then select Administrator the field Change Account Type blanks out.
Thus I am not allowed to become an Administrator.
If this is not crazy, what is ?
How to fix ??? ??? ???

Hi,
When you go into User Accounts and select Change Account type there is only opton standard because you are already an administrator. When you select Administrator the change account type blanks out becuase you are already administator and can only change the account to standard user.
Now the problem with not being able to modify settings in windows update:
Press windowskey + R and type regedit
Now go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > Software > Policies > Microsoft > Windows > Windows Update and delete the subkey AU
Let me know,
David
