HP Pro x2 612 G1 TAB
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

My HP Pro x2 612 G1 TAB with Power Keyboard i5-4302Y is unusable after a factory reset went wrong and i wiped everything from the HD including the recovery manager.

I have obtained a recovery usb from HP (which I have inserted) but now the problem is when I start the computer after draining the battery and holding the on button for 15 seconds and press the ESC key I cannot get into the BIOS startup screen.

The screen flashes up briefly then disapears to be replaced by a screen with the message:

"An operating system wasn't found. Try disconnecting any drives that don't contain and operating system.

Press Ctrp=Alt-del to restart

(flashin _ )"

Pressing F10 gets me into BIOS setup but there does not appear to be any options there.

What do I do next?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi,

Thank you for posting in the HP Support forum. Welcome onboard !

You do not need F10 in this case [BIOS].

You need F9 - Boot Device menu > http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01443326

1. Please, shutdown the computer using the power button hold for a while.

2. Insert the HP supplied recovery media.

3. Power the device back on by pressing the power on button

3.1 As soon as you press the power-on button, keep hitting the Esc button (like tap-tap-tap).

This should open a HP Startup Menu which may look similar to this one

4. Choose F9 to open Boot options

5. As a boot device, choose the USB device

6. Follow the on-screen instructions.

If the above does not work, please let me know. You may also start the StartUp menu by using the tablet functions without the keyboard (if the above does not work) >> http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03801890

Looking forward to your update.
