due to the hard drive corrupting including the rescue partion i had to replace the hard drive . This left me with a working computer, but no o/s . where or how do i get a copy of window 8.1 without having to buy a new copy

Thanks ,why has it taken nearly a week searching hp web site to get a answer that should have been available on hp web site anyway .
At the moment out of desperatio I am waiting for a second hand disk from ebay that hopfully will do the job at a 1/4 of the price. if not at least i now know where to get one and i can recover my mac from my daughter, and she can use her pc again

Since I don't work for or represent HP, I can't answer your question, but I can understand your frustration.
I agree that is hard to figure out how to contact HP for support.
HP used to have a worldwide list of phone numbers and other helpful information readily accessible.
This is the only link I could find for help in the UK...
