Product: hp envy 5540 K7C85A
Operating System: macOS 10.12 Sierra
Unable to scan from printer to computer. I have followed all the instructions from HP Utility on the computer and printer but the message is that a connection has not been completed.

First, the "obvious" things:
1. Is the printer powered-on?
2. Is the USB cable tightly-plugged into both the computer and the printer?
3. If you have a friend with a PC laptop, connect the scanner to that PC, and try to complete a scan-and-capture.
Is it a brand-new scanner, still under "warranty" ? It might be defective.
