Hi @VISU79,

Thanks for visiting the HP Support forums.  A very good day to you. 🙂 I understand that you require assistance regarding webcam issues with the computer. It will be a genuine pleasure to help you. 🙂

Stupendous description, fabulous troubleshooting and spectacular analysis of the issue before posting. Kudos to you on that score. 🙂  .  You are a valued HP customer and it is a privilege to share this platform with you. 🙂

First off, we need to isolate the issue to being hardware or software related.

For better clarity and to assist you better I would require more information regarding this.

  • Did this happen after a windows update or software update? Do you remember?
  • Have you tried the webcam in multiple applications like skype and YouCam software?

The issue could be hardware related also with the webcam.

Please follow all the prescribed steps for webcam troubleshooting from this link: http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/Compaq-Presario-CQ61-Notebook-PC-series/3938633/model/4057850/do... and check if the issue is corrected.

If it persists, please update the bios, chipset and Cyberlink Youcam Software from this link: http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/Compaq-Presario-CQ61-Notebook-PC-series/3938633/mode... by selecting the correct operating system for your computer.

Cyberlink You Cam software can be found under “Software-Multimedia” option for downloading. Please check if the issue gets corrected. If it does not then the integrated webcam has a hardware problem.

A good workaround would be to step into Best Buy or Staples with the notebook and buy a USB webcam and connect it to one of the USB ports of the computer and start using it. It is economical and cost effective and should do the trick for you.

.Hope this helps.  Let me know how this goes. I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great. 🙂  Please reach out for any issues and I'll be there to assist you. 🙂

To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help.

If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution” as it will help several others with the same issue to get it resolved without hassles. 🙂

Take care now and have a splendid week ahead. 🙂
