I too am having the same problem (HP Pavilion 15)

But I did discover that "sometimes", if I close out of the brower  completely (to the desktop) and close my laptop, it usually comes back to the desktop.  If I don't close out the brower completely, it never wakes up and when I restart, login, and go into the brower, it always shows that "chrome" didn not shut down properly.

Not the solution, but definitely helps somewhat.  It's real pain to constantly hold the power button down and reboot every time I leave the laptop.

Interesting! Do you try this after long periods of time?

I'm starting a pool...the person who guesses how many pages this gets to before there is a real solution wins a free Lenovo laptop. Haha! 🙂

41 pages, 403 responses and still ZERO input from HP. Disappointed doesn't even come into it. I am personally trying to use my tablet much of the time currently fearful of the long term effects of hard shut downs of my 7 month of HP Pavilion 15 .

I can appreciate things take time to resolve but not even an acknowledgement of a problem is unacceptable.

I have been loyal to HP ever since my first desk top, subsequent desk tops and Lap Tops as always thought them to be a quality product with one would hope good customer service to back them up.

I cannot accept that they haven't seen this thread, all we want is an idea that HP are on to this and the consequences of reverting to Windows 8.1 from Windows 10 from the horses mouth.

I even started a dedicated thread for them to reply on this issue, and all I got was another poor soul with a Dell notebook having same problem! :TongueOut:

As reported in my earlier posts sleep mode regarding my updated Win10 installation also works on my clean install of Win10 with the driver mentioned and the hybrid sleep mode set to Yes both on battery and netpower.

I'll stick with the clean install and take the job installing all my apps on this fresh copy.

This is definitely an option and I may personally go this way if things do not get resolved by HP/MS soon. However, this is probably a daunting task for most people who are not tech savvy.  A recommendation for those who want to do this: Have access to another working computer as you may need to Google various things to help you through the process. The drivers should be resident in the Win10 install but I have seen the OS miss a few things. So, before you attempt the clean Win10 install be aware -- you cannot go backward once you start it.  No going back to 8.1 (unless you have restore discs).

This guide will help (or scare you!)...http://www.expertreviews.co.uk/software/operating-systems/1401617/how-to-clean-install-windows-10-an...

The guide you linked to makes it all to complicated to do a clean install of Win 10.

What I  did was using Speccy from Piriform (or you can use Belarc Advisor) and write down the Win 10 key from your already updated Win8>Win10 installatation.

Then download the Win10 ISO-file corresponding to your updated Win10 version and create a bootable USB Win10 installation media from here:

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

Use the Win10 key you wrote down earlier.

And, I always create different system images on USB-disks before starting. I can revert back to orginal Win8.1, updated Win10 from Win8.1, or the  clean install version of Win10, when needed. Time-consuming yes, but a lot better than starting from scratch whenever I need to revert.

PS. Sleep still working fine on Win10 after "new" Intel driver and changes in the powerplan. (Elitebook 840 G1)

I went to the computer tech today he updated by  BIOS ... and since i had reverted back to win 8.1, i again upgraded to windows 10 without any problems....its been almost a day now the laptop goes to sleep/hibernates and shutdowns properly ! and i also noticed that before when i upgraded to windows 10 i had intel hd graphics driver 10.18.15.4248..now i used Microsoft Media Creation tool (x64) to upgrade to windows 10 and i now i got intel hd graphics driver 10.18.15.4256...i have putted my laptop to sleep about 20+ times and all of them have been successful...

Media Creation Tool Link (Both x64 and x86): https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

I don't know why but i think this might be the solution..... 🙂

Edit: By the way i had BIOS version F.32 something which was from 2014, my current version is F.42 which is from 2015....I upgraded my BIOS from hp's website not by using Hp Support Assistant...(Fn+Esc to check BIOS version)

if u did not get assistant from HP software to update the BIOS then how did u select the correct one for your laptop ?

Which model do you have? I have the same BIOS version as you, with the same driver and I clean installed it, I still have the problem...
