HP Pavilion DV6-2088dx running Win 7.0 64 Bit Ultimate
When I try to restart the Windows Image Acquisition Service i get either an Access Denied message (From Services tab under Task manager) or an "Error 1068: The dependency service or group failed to start" (in the Services window).

Hi,
One thing to check is the following.
Open windows Control Panel, open Administrative Tools and open Services. Check that the following services ( check them in th order shown below ) are all showing as Status= Started and Start-up Type= Automatic
Remote Procedure Call (RPC)
Shell Hardware Detection
Windows Image Acquisition
If you need to make a change to any of the above, just right click the service and select Properties, then in the dropdown box next to 'Start-up type', select Automatic and click Apply to save the change. Then click the Start button.

This doesn't work for me.
Dell helped me once but don't remember what they did.
Does PC Tools have anything to do with turning off the service?
What are the "dependency service or group" that Widows says "failed to start"?
