Acedrv08.sys causes bluescreen error - please help

I have a 64-bit vista computer with RAID drives.

I keep getting bluescreen errors that say acedrv08.sys

"page fault in non paged area"

Sometimes it happens frequently. It usually happens when I run various software but it is unpredictable.

I called hp support about this and they did not find the problem. I tried uninstalling old software.

All the checks of my system turned up as "healthy."

Do you know what this is coming from and how I can get rid of the problem?

Thank you!

Re: Acedrv08.sys causes bluescreen error - please help

Just started having "page faults in non paged area" and found 5 trojans on my system. I am currently running a virus program and it has normally caught all of them, somehow the new stuff got through. My friend has been having the same problem. Began 1/11/09. I have eliminated all of the existing trojans from my system and the problem continues.

At the moment I am doing a full OS reinstallation using the HP recovery tools.

I'd advise a full scan of the system.

Re: Acedrv08.sys causes bluescreen error - please help

Hi, I have the same blue screen of death from acedrv08. It seems to happen when I leave my PC on for more than 24 hours. HP has been no help in resolving this problem, and my 1 year warranty ran out RECENTLY. The information I found on my PC is:   Kernel Driver      Running System Start \??\C:\Windows\system32\drivers\acedrv08.sys

Can I just remove it?  Did you get your fixed? Won't it be a big help if HP would help there customer out rather than avoid the problem. There company install the OS on these PC. Why is this on a HPa6642p 64 bit home Premium 64 ED, its not on my Laptop  32 bit ED.  Any expert help would be nice.

@All

Hi,

Acedrv08.sys is part of Protect Software which usually is installed with games.

This is driver of CD/DVD copy protection.

There are three solution on this issue:

  • You may update this software to latest version (recommended):

Enter this link and choose Driver Update.

  • You may disable service which runs this driver automatically on Your system.

      Resource:

How to Disable or Enable Vista Services

  • You may uninstall this software, but it's not recommended. Software or game which installed it on Your machine for sure will not let to run anymore program which is connected with it.

Enter this link and choose Driver Uninstaller.
