Error Occurring in Microsoft Security Client

I am having an error message occurring when I log onto my system. It says:  Microsoft Security Client, An error has occurred in the program. Try to open it again. If this problem continues, you'll need to reinstall Microsoft Security Client.  Can anyone help me  fix this? Please?  I am using an HP G72-B60US Notebook and running Windows 7 operating system.  Thank you...Wrenie

Re: Error Occurring in Microsoft Security Client

What anti-virus are you using? Perform all the windows updates if there are any updates pending. You can go to windows updates by typing Windows Updates in the Start Search box.

Re: Error Occurring in Microsoft Security Client

Hi,

Try this..

First perform a clean boot:   Perform a clean boot  > or, follow the steps below

In the start search box type msconfig > Click Startup tab > Click disable all at the bottom > Then Click services > check the box next to Hide all microsoft services at the bottom > Then select disable all > Click Apply > Ok and restart.

Once it restarts then go to windows updates and try to download and install all the updates again. Restart and check. If it works better then Go back to msconfig and enable only the startup programs and services that are required. Enable few and check again..

If this doesnt work then completely uninstall AVG then download the updates and then reinstall AVG. Sometime anti-virus block the updates and becomes difficult to fix it without uninstalling and reinstalling the anti-virus. let me know what happens..
