I have a hp mini 1035NR. I had problems logging in past the login screen in xp and also it wouldnt boot to safe mode. so i went to the hp download site and downloaded the recovery onto my flash drive and loaded it to the mini. after install found out it was linux. where can i download xp to my flash drive since the mini has no cd rom.

A.) You can't get XP without either buying the CD...

B.) If you did get the XP image- you can't fit it on a USB, unless it is like 5 gigabites (or something like that.

Also, whats wrong with Linux- it is really good, and it can do everything XP can do, but faster and better.  Plus, it can't get viruses or adware...  I think you should probably stick with linux, because if you do somehow get the XP image on a USB and then install it, I bet it won't be good as it won't work well with the mini...

how you aquired the mini pc

call HP Tech Support

and have them to send you the restore

find out if disc is being sent

if so you will need to get an usb external disc player

most of them are price reasonable

I prefer linux for many reasons, but cannot find the drivers for my aircard, iPaq sync, and other stuff.

You seem knowledgeable about these minis.  When I try to load the XP Restore OS disk, I get the follow message at the Windows Setup screen:

Fiile \i386\ntkrnlmp.exe could not be loaded.  Error code is 7

Setup cannot continue.  Press any key to exit.

Any ideas what's causing this?
