Ok, I experienced some issue with my notebook* so i decided to do a reformat (clean reformat).
Im installing windows vista, as windows 7 is not recommended for my series of laptops.
The issues with the installation is surrounding the partitions. I have 2 partitions available, each 200G. Now when i install the operating system, it only installs to the one partition. You cant delete the partition to make one as i assume it has the 2 due to it being a core duo.
When windows loads, i check the system properties and only the 1 partition is recognised (I.e. 200GB HD with 2GB RAM).
I recall when the old vista was running, both were recognised and i could save to both HD (although the OS was only recognised on the one, the other was a backup per say).
What do i have to do to get the system running like it used to?
I tried looking throughout the forum although couldnt find anything on the subject, so if there is a topic on this please send me the link.
Thanks for the help!!!!
*Notebook - dv9000 core duo, 400GB HD, 4G RAM.

You probably have 2 hdds rather than 2 partitions. Use Disk Management to see if the second is recognized and can be initialized there. Right click "Computer' icon, select Manage. In the window that opens look at left side for Disk Management.Click to select it. On the right should now show all hdds /partitions.
If you need more help, please post the full model number rather than the dv9000 series. Locating Model Number

Btw, you can run Windows 7 on your laptop. The second part of the Guide here has drivers:
