Missing USB software durring reformating

I had taken in my coputer to get it reformated by Staples. Works fine except that the USB drive seams to have disapeared. I know the drive still works becouse i can still recharge my ipod using it but if i try to put in an actualy USB it's as if the coputer doesn't recognize it. The little travel drive icon in "my computer" doesn't come up next to the cd drive. How do i go about fixing this?

Re: Missing USB software durring reformating

It's a hp Pavilion dv5000 notebook

I don't know what you mean by the rest of it. The operating system is WindowsXP.

Staples reformated the computer and it should have been given back to me with everything it had the day i bought it, it seams to have been given back with everything minus the software that recognizes USBs in the port.
