Re: Problem with Fingerprint software (Digital Persona)

OK.

Please answer the following if you can:

It's unclear to me what software you started out with originally.

Was it Digital Persona OR was it SimplePass?

========================================================================

You saw my previous post - It appears that you were trying, at one point, to use SimplePass 2011 or 2012.  According to the records for this computer that I can find, you should be using Digital Persona.

From the errors you were receiving before, I'm still thinking you need DP.  If DP loaded correctly, it should work.  DP is hardy and stable, it should work if it is on the right machine with the right driver.

Rats.

Something to Try:

Now, I know for a fact that the fingerprinter itself can be stubborn if it's dirty.  See if you can clean it off with a soft cloth.  If you have some, blow it out gently with some compressed air.

I am sorry it's causing trouble for you.

I have to admit, I'm running out of ideas. :smileyfrustrated:

Re: Problem with Fingerprint software (Digital Persona)

Here is the security program I use (it came with my notebook): http://i1189.photobucket.com/albums/z439/leon_1234/Untitled-2.jpg

And here is the driver version of Validity Sensor: http://i1189.photobucket.com/albums/z439/leon_1234/Untitled2.jpg

As you see, when I try to enroll my fingerprint, it always like that: http://i1189.photobucket.com/albums/z439/leon_1234/Untitled1.jpg

Do you think the problem is the BIOS, or the fingerprint reader cable? I have cleaned the fingerprinter but not helping:smileysad:

Re: Problem with Fingerprint software (Digital Persona)

I did not see the security image, there are two images of the DP.  I would guess you have Norton, that is what ships with most HP systetem. .  One never knows what Norton will do; you could try turning if off for a minute and see if that allows you to enroll a fingerprint.

It does appear the software is compatible, else you would be seeing odd coding errors.   The software is also seeing the fingerprinter.  This is better news.

Try different fingers.  I have excellent fingerprints; nonetheless, last time I enrolled a new set, one finger that has always worked before, would not enroll this time around.  ??

If the software was working and now it does not, I would not suspect the BIOS unless you updated the BIOS and everything stopped working at that same time.  You can check the BIOS software available for your system at your computer's web page.  Check what is available against what you have.  Just sitting here, remember a setting that one would change in the BIOS for the fingerprinter.

I will think on this some more... There may be another installation pkg we can try.  I will check in the morning.

Re: Problem with Fingerprint software (Digital Persona)

I turned off Norton and try to enroll other finger, but still can't get an enrolled finger print:smileysad:. Even my friend's finger, it still can't recognize any finger print:smileysad:

The before BIOS is F.0C, recently I updated to F.0F, but nothing seem unstable, the machine just working fine. The error I stuck with the fingerprinter, I has met it before, but in the short time, and then the fingerprinter working again (recognize fingerprint scan on it). But now I met that error again, I don't know why, it seem this time that error will not auto-disappear like the first time:smileysad:

Re: Problem with Fingerprint software (Digital Persona)

[ Edited ]

Hoang,

I found this newer DP software.  It's not specifically for your hardware (computer); it may work.  It does include a fix for a logon error specific to upgrading to Windows 7 SP1.  I doubt this is the same thing as an enrollment error, but I've noted previously that the documentation does not always match everything that was written into the software package.

You can try this - keep in mind you may end up having to downgrade and reinstalling your current s/w.

First off, you can try just downloading this newer pkg and installing it on top of the current version (without removing the current pkg).  If it works at all, it may take care of the rest, especially since this is an update.

Compatible with an Intel processor

sp55459_DP_5.2.0.233_64bit

It is possible that the fingerprinter is faulty.  Keep in mind, enrollment issues do not always mean a hardware failure.  I have not found anyway to test fingerprint hardware integrity.

Have you run sfc /scannow on your system recently?  Might be a good plan.

Re: Problem with Fingerprint software (Digital Persona)

Sorry, unclear.

Are you saying you ran the scan?  Was it clean?

Which method did you use to install the Validity driver?

Did you clean the registry?

Thoughts..

  • The driver did not install correctly - sometimes it takes more than one time or it takes one or another of the different methods to make it work.

  • The fingerprinter has failed.

  • You or I missed something.

Sadly, I am out of ideas for the moment.   It should work.

Re: Problem with Fingerprint software (Digital Persona)

Yes, I scanned, no problem. Well, I try all the method i can, by Device manager, by the Installer:smileysad:. I don't very sure about cleaning the registry, I always use Your Uninstaller to uninstall a software. I guess the fingerprinter is failed.

Re: Problem with Fingerprint software (Digital Persona)

Registry cleaning is mentioned in my Post dated 01-14-2012 04:24 PM.  Registries do not usually need this - they are self regulating.  Sometimes, though, things do become mired when one adds and removes software multiple times.  Cleaning the registry can remove the extra bits that pile up and get in the way of clean operation.

It's my last idea besides backing up your files and doing a complete reinstall of the software.

I am curious about the BIOS update - if the fingerprinter worked prior to the update and it does not work now, then the update is something to consider.  If the timing is not the same, then the two are probably not related.

Good Luck - I hope there is a solution!  Please post when you find the fix so it can help others!

Re: Problem with the Beat Audio Controller

Hi

My beats audio headphones have cracked, they are still under warranty, I bought them only 6 months ago and have been told by hp support they will courier me a new set out. this was authorised by a supposed "supervisor".  I was put through to an "engineer" who was going to get my address and contact details so this could happen, only when I spoke to the "engineer" I was put through to, she checked again with her "supervisor" to tell me that they aren't covered in the warranty, the supervisor sounded half asleep and was no help at all. We have 3 sets of the solo hd beats headphones and have never had a problem. These  ones are only 6 months old and are the latest ones that we had purchased/received with the Envy notebook. Can you please help me?? The customer service on the phone is really crap and they just continue to give you the run around and transfer you to several different people. I am really angry and will be putting a complaint in with the ombudsman.
