QuickWeb after clean instllaton

Hi,

I've just bought HP ProBook 6560b without any operating system. I downloaded from MSDN Windows 7 64bit.

I've created FAT32 partition (4096 MB) and called it HP_TOOLS. It is extended partition.

The SoftPaq managed to install all the updates and software.

The problem is I can't get access to QuickWeb.

1) I it is not possible to choose it in BIOS in BOOT section (Bios updated before the QuickWeb was installed).

2) In Windows also I don't see possiblity to enable it manualy. There is no such tool as HP QuickWeb in All Programs (Not present also in Configuration Panel).

3) Pressing the 'Globe' button starts the "QuickWeb" but only what is displayed is "HP QuickWeb" and it freezes. After I hit any key Windows start to boot.

Any suggestion?

Thanks!

Re: QuickWeb after clean instllaton

[ Edited ]

Hello,

I have the same problem with hp probook 4530s. I have software from MSDN which is fully called Windows 7 Proffesional N   64-bit.  Pressing the quickweb launch button turns on the computer and when HP quick web wallpaper shows up it just stays there and does nothing. If I press any key it continues to windows.

I have a quess it might be case with the N and KN versions of Windows as they differs a little bit and they dont have the media suite from windows (media player, etc..)

Any solutions for the problem? or maybe a recommendation whom to ask for solution?

Thank you in advance,

Best regards,

Re: QuickWeb after clean installation

Hi,

I haven't managed to find a solution. I have already tried

1) Reinstalling

2) Changing partition position (HP_TOOLS)

3) Leaving spare space for QuickWeb Installation to create HP_TOOLS partition

HP staff have told me that the QuickWeb Installation should create partition by it self. It didnt.

I have also conflicts with bios and ProtectManager, so after calling to HP they said to send the laptop back to them, since it is probably the BIOS / hardware issue.

If your laptop is still on warranty, probably the quickest way is to call to them and let them fix it for you.

I haven't yet sent it, so I can't tell you if it worked.

Best regards.

Re: QuickWeb after clean instllaton

Hello again,

I have managed to fix the problem.

At first (when it didnt worked) after pressing the special button on laptop it would run and show hp quickweb wallpaper and nothing else happened, except that when I press a button it continues to Windows.

After being obsessed about making it work and trying many things I found out that it has something to do with partitions in hard drive. It didnt worked when I had 4 partitions, 1st one was leftover ext4 file system partition from the preinstalled system, then it was hp tools, windows partitions and just files. After I deleted the ext4 partition and made my hp_tools partition 20GB big, it worked perfectly. I reinstalled quickweb from software supported in HP page for my notebook, pressed the special button when laptop was off and it works with no problems.

So I guess the solution would be to do something with the partitions and harddrive. If you have ext4 or ext3 file systems, maybe this makes the problem? (As I understand quickweb is made on linux  so maybe when it boots and sees linux type partition , it tries to get there  gets some errors and doesnt like what it sees..)

By the way, My laptop is HP Probook 4530s.

Hope this helps to somebody.

Good luck,

Best Regards

Re: QuickWeb after clean instllaton

Thanky for your post!

In fact it give me a hint, and I deleted all other partition leaving only C:.

During installation thw HP_TOOLS partition was created and all work well.

I assume the problem is that HP_TOOLS partition cannot be created during installation while logical drives are present, and do other magical stuff to make it run.

I look forward to fix this bug by HP.

Best regards.
