Quickweb Problem with Gmail

So no one has been able to solve this yet and I'm desperate for help! I have a Mini 210. Quickweb launches fine and most functions work. However, the email application will NOT populate with my Gmail account info. Just a blank column. Also, if I click on the mail icon it tells me (cannot access your gmail account at this time) and gives me a message to check my internet connection. Everything is fine there though. It just refuses to get gmail. Everything has been configured properly and the app has even been restored from factory. Nothing.

Please!! Any ideas?

Re: Quickweb Problem with Gmail

I am having the same problem with a new pavilion dv6 purchased last week (8/7/10). I tried a yahoo account and it worked fine but will not work with gmail.  Also when I try to use the gmail link it fills in my use username but not the password.  Once I log in the link will continue to open the email but the email will not appear on the main page as it does with the yahoo email.  This is a great feature if it would work with gmail.  Hope this is fixed soon.

P.S.  As I typed this message it keeps jumping back into the middle of the text and overwrites what I have written.  What is up with that?

[ Edited ]

I have a new HP DV6 Select Edition July 2010 model

I have the same problem as well, HP please fix.

HP QuickWeb upon default load the email panel on the left does not work with GMAIL but works with Yahoo! Mail, only upon clicking on the email button which launches the browser for gmail does it work.. but this work-around defeats the purpose of that panel showing on instantly.

Any update that fixes this? I suspect its a authorization error or lack of https

UPDATE: On Splashtop's (The company that makes HP's QuickWeb) help forum the bug has been noted but help it catch the developer's attention by voting for it! http://splashtop.uservoice.com/forums/23134-hp/suggestions/990273-fix-bug-on-hp-s-pavilion-quick-web

Re: Quickweb Problem with Gmail

Thepunkinator,

I have some unfortunate news.  According to what I found, the email list on the left side of QuickWeb is designed to parse the Gmail webpage.  Google's recent modification blocks out cookie-based authentication which is the only way to login to Gmail without API support.  HP recommends using the web browser to check Gmail.  So far this has not affected any other web mail providers.

Re: Quickweb Problem with Gmail

Hello you need to look up IMAP setting or POP3 settings depending on what you want with your system. The mini i have selected IMAP by default. I removed this and set to POP3 Setting for Gmail.

This is a help screen to set the gmail to use pop settings > http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=13273

This is a url for alternate clients it gives you all you will need for setting up your email client.

If you still have issues then send me a email d1g1t4Lnrg@gmail.com.

hope this fixes it for you... have a great one.

Re: Quickweb Problem with Gmail

Oh ps my system had same issues but i resolved them with same info as previous steps. You might have to fiddle with the email client to get used to it but that is part of the learning eh! :robotwink:
