Reinstalling Original operating system and software

Hello:

I have a Pavilion DV 6000 (DV6119us), Win XP, 80gig HD. Im having trouble installing orig.. software and "Quick Play". I have replaced the motherboard and hard disk drive. The hdd is of the same size, manufacturer, and man. part number as orig. HP drive. The OS installs fine, but when trying to reinstall Quick Play (as per instructions in booklet) I get the error that there is insufficient HD space or incompatible system. When trying to install Drivers and Software CD. it doesn't autoplay. when trying to run the set-up program manually the only thing that happens is that the hour glass spins for about a second and then turns back into the mouse pointer, nothing else. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Re: Reinstalling Original operating system and software

Unfortunately this link did not help me much. I is kind of general and assumes every thing goes as planed, and not what to do when errors like mine show up. If you will read my text again, you will see that my operating system installs fine. The problem comes in when trying to load the application and drivers recovery DVD, and the "QuickPlay "CD. While doing some more research, I determined that all of the drivers need to be installed before QuickPlay will install. So it looks like I am going to have to solve the recovery DVD problem first.

[ Edited ]

You can download your XP drivers from your support page:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?os=228&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&sw_lang=&product=32577...

I believe your model came with Quick Play boot, where you could boot to QP without loading Windows. That option will not be easily restored since it requires some special partitioning.

You should be able install Quick Play for Windows, which can be opened after booting into XP:

QPW version 2.3 for XP, here

Update to the final version of QPW for XP, here

Re: Reinstalling Original operating system and software

Just install the drivers you downloaded.

Re: Reinstalling Original operating system and software

I will try that. Thank you. It might take me a while, because I had to return the M.B. that I bought  for it. I will let you know if I have any other concerns. Thank You Again.
