Software updates

I have a brand new notebook. When I look at HP support area , there are several software updates to download.  Are they all relevant to me ? If not how do I tell which ones my computer need?

 Is there any system (I may have missed) like Windows update where the update program determines which updates are appropriate?

Please identify your notebook.  Look at the base of the notebook at the barcoded sticker and post everything you see there except the serial number.


Also post the operating system that is installed.

 It is G62-b30SA Netbook. Windows 7 (64 bit).

 

I looked at the downloads for this model - but there are a lot , and I couldn't tell which I needed - would some already have been installed as they are several months old ?

The updates that state previous versions available have not been updated.


Others where there is only a single driver  listed may not be updates at all. Check the versions on the driver & software download page against what is installed in your PC by checking in the device manager.


Do be aware that as long as you have not disturbed the original partitions created at assembly,  you can install the original drivers via a selection in the Recovery manager or from disc #2 of the HP Recovery disc set (that you should have made by now)   


You should install all of the Operating system enhancements and QFE's.

 

The HP Support Assistant is reported to be a good tool  to use for checking to see what needs to be updated.
