Synaptic Pointing Device v8.1 Malfunctioning

Hi People,

I have a HP Folio 13, HP's newest ultrabook, running on Window 7 Home premium 64 bits.

The problem with the Synaptic is that part of the program won't run base on booting of the laptop.  When the laptop starts, 2 and 3 finger press work perfectly fine, however, 2 and 3 and 4 finger flick do not function at all.

I have tried to look into the "msconfig" to check if the driver loads under "startup", and the box is check, so I assume the system loads the program.

Now, in order to fully enable all those functions, I have to go to the "search bar", and type in "mouse" and press "enter".  With that, a window (mouse property) pops up, and then Synaptic will work fine.

I am not sure which function did I disable, but I remember the clickpad boots fine when I first used the laptop.

This problem is annoying because I do not want to type "mouse" everytime when the laptop boots.  Any help for this issues will be greately appreciated.

Thanks,

Wei

Hi Wei,

do you recall running any software that optimizes or speeds up your computer?

If yes, what was the software?

I would try the following:

open up the mouse properties, select the ClickPad Settings tab

Click the "Reset Devices" button

Click on OK, then reboot the PC - Please let me know if it is functioning properly now.

3 and 4 finger flick is disabled by default.

To enable 3 and 4 finger flick:

Click start and open up the Synaptics clickPad v8.1 application

Place a check in "Three-Finger Flick" and in "Four-Finger Flick"

Re: Synaptic Pointing Device v8.1 Malfunctioning

I own a HP envy 15(late 2011).

I recently installed the new update of the synaptics clickpad under windows update. Everything works fine and I really like the improved scrolling whihc is a lot smoother specially in chrome.

My problem is the 4 finger flicking upward. Yes it brings up the multitasking windows but choosing the window I want; which is just scrolling one finger from left to right, or vise versa, in the previous version (un-updated version), does not work with the latest update. When I scroll on the clickpad the cursur moves, which does not move in the precius version.

Can you fix this problem? because scrolling has REALLY improved with the update.

Re: Synaptic Pointing Device v8.1 Malfunctioning

Hello,

I have hp 2000-2116 tu win7 64 bit and synaptics driver 7.5 but when I open it there is no option for four finger flick. Only upto three finger flick and scroll is available. Is there any update for four finger scroll or is it not available in my touchpad? Please can you help me through?

Re: Synaptic Pointing Device v8.1 Malfunctioning

Hello... Can somebody tell me the workaround for this? I am having more or less the same problem.

When I perform the or four finger gesture, it does not work. I t doesn't open the multitasking window or switch to other application. I already enable the necessary settings in the Synaptics v8.1 application. I am using Envy 4-1054TX.
