A few days ago my HP 16 HDX laptop gave me the error message saying that it had an imminent hard disk failure. So I shipped it back to HP to get the hard drive replaced. Before doing so I ran the Back up and Restore program and created a backup of my files on my external hard drive. The laptop came last night and I used the same program to restore the files and after doing so it completed and said they were restored but it doesn't seem like that to me.
How do I restore my computer to the way I had it before I had to ship it in to replace the hard drive? Is there a way to get back my programs that I had on it. The most important one to me is the microsoft office that I purchased with the laptop (but don't have the disc) since I'm in college I use that one the most and its very important to me so that would be very helpful.
Thanks so much.

I'm having the same problem restoring my files, no access. I was able to add the new administrator, me again with new SID, to each individual file but I can't do that for 11,000 files. Any ideas?

Having the same issue as the orginal Poster, how did you get each individual file?
