Wow, that sounds real strange!  Have you scanned your system for virus, Trojans, adware?  Sure sounds like you have been HiJacked.

I would recommend using another computer download Eset's Smart Security Suite http://www.eset.com and burn it to a CD and run it on your system.  I would also recommend Spybot Search and Destroy http://www.safer-networking.org/en/home/index.html .

Re: Vista problem

Try going into the control panel to Internet Options and reset your Internet Explorer.  Also, see if you can launch internet explorer without the Addons.  If you use the start menu and type internet explorer into the search bar, you'll see the link for it.

Its great to see someone else having this problem too. I mean,it means that I'm not the only one having this problem so it mus be solvable.

When I use the internet for whatever reasons, on my CQ45-108AU laptop, after some time, it hangs. Don't ask me how long after, coz its random.

There's this thing, it DOESNT hang in safe mode.

Anyway, I ran malware scan, trojan scan, registry scan, Panda Antivirus scan, so my computer should be pretty clean.

THen, I think I ran the diskcheck or memcheck during startup, probably after the big COMPAQ logo, and there was no problem.

And, I tried disabling all unimportant services, and processes  but it still hangs.

So now I thought it was the heat, I got SpeedFan and it shows a core temp of 70 Celcius. And that fire icon beside it doesn't look good.

Probably its the heat but I doubt it since its now 76C in safe mode. But I was wondering why no fan is listed in the SpeedFan application.

So what might be the problem?

Hi,

I will suggest You to run windows update and to get allupdates for Your windows there.

If that won't help write which version of Internet Explorer or any other browser are You using. This informations are very important. Without them we can't do anything.

One more question . You wrote than Your temperature is 76 that's really high temp. If You only are using browser. Is this temperature lower in Safe mode?

Yeah, done windows update, laptop still hangs.

These are the internet explorers I tested with (laptop hangs regardless which one I use):

Ie7 version: 7.0.6001.18000

Chrome version: 1.0.154.48

Firefox version: 3.0.8

In safe mode, I can turn on 20 tabs in Ie7 without any problems. Although it goes up to 65C or so. And when I play an emulator game, it can go up to 75C.

In contrast, in the normal mode, I can heavily use the laptop until it reaches 76C or so. It works fine, until I spend some time using the internet. Hmm, but I think it hasn't hanged on me while I had MSN messenger opened yet, so I might be too quick to assume it happens when I use the internet. Maybe it is just those browsers.

Or it is the heating problem. hmmm. but it is definitely something that comes up in the normal mode that hangs the com.

Re: Vista problem

Take a look at the version of BIOS that you are running is there an update?  If so, you might want to update the machine.  Check for dust build up on the vents.  If you have done all the above, then call HP support.

Re: Vista problem

Don't do update now. Updating Bios is always last step if You can't do really nothing cause it's always risky.

So it's a bad idea for now. I've got a new idea. Today I was working on one machine with a similar problem as Yours and You know what there is one thing more that we can do. Go to Control Panel->Administrative Tools->Event Viewer

New window will Show up and choose aplication in it. Find there something like this:

In column Type: Error (with red sign) and in column Source: Application Hang.

Click on it twice and a window with this error will show up. Then click in it on an icon which looks like document (that will copy whole text from it) and paste it on thisforum as a post.

Look for things like that also in othe bottom which is below System.

If there will not be any Error like Application Hang then copy all other Errors which You will find.
