fix boot.ini in HP Mini 1101

I am getting a message

Invalid boot.ini file

Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:

<Windows root>\system32\hal.dll

Please re-install a copy of the above file.

Please suggest a solution. I have made a bootable usb for XP Proffessional SP3. However till the boot.ini file is resolved i cannot get on with the recovery.

Re: fix boot.ini in HP Mini 1101

Welcome Hemant.

There are a few ways to do this.

Take a look at this one.

Re: fix boot.ini in HP Mini 1101

Thanks Reo.

When I start the system goes to loading windows from the  hard disk. Then gets out and restarts and gets into a loop.

If I press the F9 I bootup through the USB. But I get the boot.ini file corrupt message.

I cannot get to the Recovery Console. Most help ask you to get to the Recovery Console but I do not seem to find a way to get to the Recovery console.

If there is way to get to the command prompt then there is way to solve this.

Any suggestions.

Thanks.

Hemant.

Could you try to boot your USB on another system.

It may not be working and the system will then try to boot from the HDD.
