HP Spectre x360 - 13-4103dx (ENERGY STAR)
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I cannot use the USB connection on my notebook to transfer files to my cell phone.  Running Windows 10 on the notebook and Android 14 on a Pixel 7a.  When I select "File Transfer" for the USB connection,

the notebook makes a sound, but does not launch the file manager.  Nor does the file manager "see" the Pixel.

The connection is USB-C with an adapter on the Pixel side and USB-A  3.0 on the notebook.

Using an older Moto cell phone with Android 8 and the same notebook worked fine.  Connecting the Pixel to my wife's HP Envy with Windows 11 by the same cable also works fine.  I tried all the USB ports on the notebook.  I also tried restarting both the Pixel and the notebook.  Still no success.  I also tried uninstalling the USB 3.0 Root Hub, and restarting the notebook, thus  reinstalling that driver. No success.

Any advice appreciated.

@Neal360

After connection, can you see your phone in File Explorer ? I transfer file from my notebooks to my phones (Android, iOS) or tablets (Samsung's) all the times. Nearly every week.

Please check the following Guide for your phone

banhien,

thanks for such a quick reply.

However, as I mentioned in my post the Pixel does not appear in the file manager even though it should.

I checked out the information of the Google support page;

I have tried all those suggestions for troubleshooting the connection.

Please let me know if  you think of something else.
