I got this notebook 3 days ago, and I managed to update everything from the HP Support Assistant with the exception of five:
- Wacom AES Digitizer Driver
- Alps HID Mouse Driver
- Intel Bluetooth Driver
- ASMedia eXtensible Host Controller (xHCL) Driver
and the recent
- HP Notebook System BIOS Update
I'm not having troubles due to these, but the fact that these updates keep failing bugs me. I want to know if formatting would fix it or if it's a hardware problem that can't be fixed. Thanks.

In the tech world technicians favor something called "if it ain't broke don't fix it"
If it works fine now and since these are not security related things, I would't try to update them if I were you.
HP Support Assistant (HPSA) is good but not mandatory app to keep. If it bugs you, you can safely uninstall it.
You may update your drivers using Windows Update or Device Manager methods listed here > https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03330139
You may also update drivers using files/softpaq downloader from HP website > https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers
BIOS is a different story
Personally, I do not recommend you touch it unless you experience some issues with your existing BIOS and you are sure that the new BIOS will fix it.
General recommendation I provide to users/customers is NOT to upgrade BIOS/UEFI unless they experience any kind of specific BIOS/UEFI issue. Updating just for updaing and just for using the latest verson is not solution. Any kind of update (no matter for what and who relesed it) can fix 2 issues but may introduce 10 more issues. Additionally, upgrading the BIOS (for any vendor) poses more risks because BIOS recovery is not that easy as compared to typical software updates IF something goes wrong.
Same applies for Windows Updates, OS update, drivers updates, etc - upgrade/update IF you have issues which you know are fixed in the newer version or for some severe security issues. Otherwise, keep the existing version as long as possible.
