Pavilion DV7t-3000
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hi HP friends,

I recently aquired this HP Pavilion DV7t-3000 from a friend, and need to reinstall Windows 7. I used my Windows 7 Home Premium DVD and used the key on the bottom to activate. That all went fine.

I downloaded all the drivers from the HP Website, but after installing them all, I noticed the WiFi was off, and pressing the Red WiFi Touchkey did nothing. The Audio Slider and Mute button also do not do anything. If I mute the audio, the Mute key turns Red, but does not respond to touches.

When the laptop first turns on, after reaching the desktop, they work for about 2 seconds, before the WiFi turns off, and they stop working. So it must be a software issue.

I have tried:
Update all the drivers

Removing battery and Adapter, holding PWR button for 2 mins

Reinstalling drivers

Reinstalling Windows

I cannot use Windows Update, since WiFi is stuck off, and there is not Ethernet here.

Any Ideas?

Kind Regards,

Josh

Hi Guys

I found the issue. The ribbion cable connecting the touch panel to the board has a rip in it... So I will try to find a replacement cable. I'm assuming HP doesn't sell one anymore, so I'll be checking eBay, and possibling having to make my own.

Kind Regards,
Josh

It is a CTO machine therefore we can't find its true specs. Please go to Device Manager and list hardware id's of missing driver. The following instructions show you how:

Hi all,

I bought for $10 on eBay a replacement top section with the cable included, and I used my existing panel piece, since it was in better condition. Replacing the cable fixed the issues, the touchkeys work now perfectly!!!

Kind Regards,
Josh
