After errouneously deleting the mfc120u.dll plus three following files my HP Pavilion has become sluggish to slow to absolutely "still" when uploading/viewing videos from msn and other sources. I also play a few cardgames from microsoft and during a game the computer seems to just stop for a while and then, after a few to several seconds, it resumes play.
Is there someway to regenerate to files deleted?

I don't understand -- which link are you talking about?
I tried the first link, and it takes me to Microsoft.
I tried the second link, and it takes me to the Windows 10 forums, a tutorial page.
IF you are going elsewhere, something is redirecting your browser pages.

Hello;
Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!
Personally, I can't think of an easier way to completely trash Windows than to delete DLL files. Why would you do that??
What MIGHT work, is something known as a Repair-Install. This is the least destructive of all the Windows recovery functions and rewrites the Windows system files, including the drivers, leaving your data, settings, and applications intact.
To do this, you will need to use the link to download Win10 installation media and either burn a DVD or create a USB stick: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/media-creation-tool-install?ocid=ms_wol_win10
Note that when you go do download and build install media, the tool defaults to matching what is already installed on your PC (as in, Home for Home, 64-bit for 64-bit). Make sure you select the same version as needed for your PC. If you do not, the resulting media will be different and will force you to enter a NEW product code!
Once you have that media, follow the instructions in the link: http://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/16397-repair-install-windows-10-place-upgrade.html
Good Luck

When I accessed the link you provided with a U, the instruction that popped USB stick installed, the page that appeared was about SanDisc? and MAC - since i have an HP pavilion, I was unsure of uploading something for a MAC.
The reason I originally deleted the dll files is that I am almost illiterate when it comes to computers - other than the on/off function, it's a daily adventure for me. It's not that at age 74 and having stayed from computers for as long as I could - actually until I retired - it's just that there is so much garbage and old "language" in my brain that other than step by step instructions, I always seem to make a wrong choice.
I talked to a local computer repair shop who thought they could help with a couple hours work (about $165.00) and am considering this expense or just buying a new computer and try to discipline myself NOT to try to improve its performance.
I do appreciate your answering my inquiry and if you could clarifiy the MAC question, I would be grateful!
Thanks - Bobrs

I believe the problem has been resolved - and for an illiterate computer user, it was a lot easier than anticipated. Your help not only saved me money, it put my mind at ease in that I have a place to go if I need help. Thanks so much
