My old notebook  was a Toshiba and it has a software called TFPU Toshiba Fingerprint Utility. I could encrypt any file with my fingerprint. Is there a similar software for my HP Envy W10 laptop available? Or is it possible to install  and use this Toshiba TFPU software on my HP Envy laptop because it has a different fingerprint reader hardware than it was in my Toshiba machine?

Manufacturer fingerprint reader control software is no longer compatible with Windows 10. You have to use the Windows "Hello" feature. Don't try to install the Toshiba software. You could not have used it in Windows 7 or Windows 8, either.

I have a few business files I need to decrypt. On Windows 7 the TFPU software worked well, it was compatible with my old  Win7 pro Tecra machine.

since I moved to HP I no longer can use this software as you said.

Is it possible I will not be able to decrypt my files? On my old Tecra I upgraded to W10 Pro but I left my files encrypted.

Bad news...

You generally have to decrypt with the same software that encrypted. Where are the files you want to decrypt?

Files are on the new HP laptop's drive, ( I have copied everything from the old laptop to the new HP one), but I will copy them to pendrive, and I will log in on my old Toshiba to check if I can decrypt them. The question is after the W10 upgrade, will my Toshiba encryption software still work and decrypt the files or not. I will check it soon. Thank your for your time and help!
