Spectre x360
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have a new HP Spectre x360 with Windows 10 and Office 2016. I do lots of document editing and have always loved using the Home and End keys to navigate in my emails and other documents, but they don't work on this computer with the OS and software I have installed. Instead of moving to the beginning or end of a line, they only move one space in each direction. I need to figure out how to fix this and so far have not found anything out there to help. I have only one working hand, so unless there is a "permanent" fix, I would prefer something that doesn't require holding down the Windows key (for example) and some other distant key.

Thanks!

Hi! @paperhanger1, Welcome to HP forums.

I understand that you have keyboard issues with your laptop.

As you mentioned that Home and End keys do not work.

Go to windows desktop

Hold Windows key + Letter R key.

Run dialog box would open type devmgmt.msc

Device manager window will open.

Expand keyboards.

Right click the keyboard icon and select uninstall.

Restart your PC keyboard drivers should get installed automatically.

After the driver gets installed check if the issue still persists.

If the issue persists update BIOS if you still face the issue. Check with an external keyboard whether the home and end key's work.

If it is working then it is a hardware issue. Please contact HP for service options.

I'll keep an eye out for your response.

I hope you have a great day! 🙂

Thank you for the advice. I will try it. However, I have found a work-around for now that is satisfactory. Someone on the forum suggested holding down the Fn key while using the home and end keys and that does indeed work. But with only one usable hand, that is not a long-term solution for me, so I turned on the "Sticky Keys" function and now just have to hit the Fn key and Home/End in sequence instead of together.
