Hello,

I installed HP Hotkey Support in order to change brightness and volume via the keyboard. The installer doesn't only contain the drivers, but also a on-screen-display feature indicating the current brightness/volume level. However, the OSD pops up with a considerable delay rendering it useless. Even without the delay I would prefer this thing gone.

In the past, people have complained about this feature for various reasons and even though HP has managed to remove a popup notifying you every time you hit the caps lock button, they have failed to at least implement a button where you can specify whether you want the OSD to appear or not.

I tried two solutions that seemed to have worked for some users a few years ago:

1. According to this thread, you can look for hpCaslNotification.exe  in C:/Program Files (x86)/Hewlett-Packard/Shared and rename it to e.g. hpCaslNotification.exe.bak. (Location in my case: C:/Program Files (x86)/Hewlett-Packard/Shared/Net4.5). This seems to be a solution to remove the brightness OSD, but when I change the volume with the keyboard, immediately the program C:/Program Files (x86)/HP/HP Hotkey Support/QLBController.exe crashes, after which none of the Hotkeys work anymore.

2. According to this other thread, and this support communication, you can change some registry settings in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Hewlett-Packard\HP HotKey Support, but in my case this key is not existent in this location and creating it with the correct values had no effect on the OSD.

Is there anyone encountering the same problem who was able to solve it? Any ideas what I can do? Thank you!
