No DVD/CD player built into laptop. Can I connect to my desktop tower and load program from it's reader to the laptop?

Hello;

Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!

If you're talking about using a CD/DVD drive on a tower PC to load the disk, and then (somehow!) connecting that tower PC to your laptop to run the app -- then no, you can't do that.

But, you CAN purchase an external CD/DVD drive that will plug into a USB port on your laptop, and use that.

Here's a link to some examples that are available from Microcenter:  http://www.microcenter.com/category/4294966941/external-cd-dvd-blu-ray-drives

Good Luck
