HP 17.3 inch Laptop PC 17-cp0000 IDS Base Model

My mother purchased a HP laptop but never activated the Office 2016 installed on it, and I was working on it to fix some problems she had and noticed it.  I am trying to see if there is a way to activate this in order to take advantage of the software already installed.   I don't see an activation wizard so not sure how to proceed

Hi @Sawdeykd,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd like to help!

Microsoft Office is a collection of applications for personal and business productivity, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote.

Office comes preinstalled on many HP computers with Windows 10. After you purchase an HP computer with Windows 10, you can do the following:

Activate an Office 365 subscription or free trial.

Activate Office 2016 or 2013.

Install an older version of Office.

Buy Office from the Microsoft Store.

Office 365 and Office 2016 might activate automatically. Open the Office installer or application (Word, Excel), and then follow the on-screen prompts to activate Office.

NOTE: If you have any issues activating Office, copy and paste the following URL into your browser address bar: ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp101501-102000/sp101905.exe. Download and install Reset MS Office AFO and AFOLB Settings – CPS (sp101905.exe), and then open any Office application to restart the activation process.

For more information about activating Office, see the Microsoft document Activate Office 365, Office 2016, or Office 2013 (in English).

If this does not help, you may have to contact Microsoft support.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
