Pavilion dv6 won't connect to printer

My Pavilion dv6 laptop communicates only intermittently with my Epson WF-2540 printer.  Sometimes it does, but more often it doesn't.  The problem appears to be with USB printing support, which has the yellow "problem" icon in the device manager. A fresh download of USB printing support doesn't work as it says the correct version is already there.   I suspect the problem is with Windows 10, which I downloaded a few months ago.  My laptop may not be fully compatible with Windows 10 as it was purchased in early 2012.  Any help will be appreciated--thank you!

I'm using an Epson printer with Win10 and it did NOT work properly until I removed the stuff that MS installed and replaced it with software and drivers downloaded from Epson.

I would download and install the Drivers and Utilities Combo package.

IF it still does not work after that, I suggest you contact Espon for support for the printer.

Thank you!  Got some strange error messages in the process, but it did print a test page, so fingers crossed!
