HP ENVY - 17m-ce0013dx
Microsoft Windows 11

Hello
Suddenly the fingerprint sensor, which worked perfectly, stops working. I installed, uninstalled, reinstalled the drivers, updated 100 times a day AND NOTHING HAPPENS. The window in which to add new fingerprints appears and I receive the message with Windows Hello Something's get wrong. Try again later.
What to do ?

Hi @Bozocd ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you've already tried quite a few troubleshooting steps.

Here are some additional suggestions you could try:

  • Check for Windows Updates: Sometimes, Windows updates can resolve compatibility issues or bugs related to hardware. Make sure your Windows 11 is up to date.
  • Update BIOS/UEFI: Check if there are any updates available for your laptop's BIOS or UEFI firmware. Sometimes, firmware updates can fix hardware-related issues.
  • Check for Hardware Issues: Ensure that there are no physical obstructions or damage to the fingerprint sensor. Clean the sensor gently with a soft cloth to remove any dirt or debris.
  • System File Checker: Run the System File Checker tool to scan for and repair any corrupted system files that may be affecting the fingerprint sensor functionality. Open Command Prompt as an administrator and type sfc /scannow then press Enter.
  • Check Device Manager: Ensure that the fingerprint sensor is recognized and listed correctly in Device Manager. If there's a yellow exclamation mark or it's not listed, there may be a driver or hardware issue.
  • Rollback Drivers: Sometimes, the latest drivers can cause issues. Try rolling back the fingerprint sensor driver to a previous version and see if that resolves the problem.
  • Restore System: If the issue started recently and you can pinpoint it to a specific event (like a recent software installation), you can try using System Restore to revert your system to a previous state when the fingerprint sensor was working correctly.
