Hi:

Here are the links to the USB and ethernet drivers...

USB:  Download, unzip and run the setup.exe file from the link below.

Could you have put icons on the taskbar on the bottom row, and shown him "click here to open your E-mail; click here to open a web-browser"?  What other programs would he use?

Hang on to the media to re-install Windows 10, because Microsoft will not support Windows 7 after January 2020 -- less than 3 years away.  You'll need to install Windows 10 at that time.

That worked perfectly -- Thank you for the support

Thanks for the thoughtful ideas.

I will put icons on the desktop for him so it will be up front for him on boot up.

The challenge is what i suspect happens with many seniors -- Short term memeory loss.

For him, Win10 was like tryong to read and understand a new language for the first time everytime he booted up the os

Thanks again

You're very welcome.

Looks like I forgot to ask for help with the correct graphics & video drivers -- Anyone out there that can help with this.

BTW - My father-in law is managing the Windows 7 down-grade fust fine. Thanks for all the emails

Hi:

Intel only developed graphics drivers for W10 for the 7th gen platforms.

See this related thread which I helped someone else with this morning with the graphics, and use the info I posted to modify the W10 Intel graphics driver in the discussion.

The nvidia graphics adapter is N/A to the 15-au123cl.

Apparently, the driver from the Probook 450 G4 may work for your model too.

Did not work

I modified the igdlh64.inf swsetup\sp78781\Graphics folder but that did not work.

Thr NVIDIA driver would not load.

Below is the hardware ids from the standard graphics controller

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_5916&SUBSYS_8215103C
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_5916&SUBSYS_8215103C
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_5916&CC_030000
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_5916&CC_0300

Any other ideas?

HP Recommended

Try modifying the driver using the hardware ID's that were used in the example.

If you can't get the Intel driver to install, the nvidia driver will not install.
