I am frequently experiencing 2 problems when typing online. It happens in both my brouser and with Word type software. I can be typing along and stop to think further and while I am thinking it will disappear or I could be typing along and I look up and the line is continued somewhere else on the page! I have typed paragraphs and sat back to think more, hen I watch it flat disappear. It's like the old days of DOS, when you had to type something and then save it, type some more and save. The problem today is that sometimes there is no way to save...such as forums etc. I have no idea. I thought at first that it might happen when the browser refreshes every so often but that is not the case. I also thought that I had to have a rhythm or something like that...not so. I then thought maybe it had something to do with the touchpad sensitivity but I use a mouse most of the time? I am at a loss but so is my data...I have to figure this out soon! I really appreciate any help you can give me.

Hello, @seaboyd - Hope you are well 🙂
Allow me to welcome to HP Support Forums! It is a great platform to get help from the community, get suggestions and find what has worked for others!
I see that you are having issues while typing using your Envy notebook. Do not worry, I’m here to help 🙂
Going through your post, the issue is most likely caused due to the touchpad. Hence to isolate the issue, let’s try to disable the touchpad for a short while we monitor the issue. Follow the steps below:
- In Windows, search mouse.
- From the results list, click Mouse & touchpad settings.
- Select the Additional mouse options.
- Now, select Touchpad and then disable the touchpad (this will not affect the performance of the mouse) and save the settings.
Now, try typing and monitor the issue for a little while. If the issue is indeed caused due to the touchpad, then go to http://hp.care/2i4QWKo and follow the steps under “Preventing accidental clicks (mouse cursor moves while typing)”.
That should do the trick, let me know the outcome!
Good luck 🙂

I can't find the Accept button so I'll spell it out. I believe the touchpad solution is the one. It has been a couple days now and no problems. Having worked with desktops for 25 years, I wasn't familiar with the temperments of the Touchpad. I guess that is why I still use the mouse, where possible, with the laptop.
Dvortex: Thank you very much for screwing this old man's head on!!
