HP ENVY 15t-q300 CTO L6E55AV
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

I have a problem with HDMI output.

my laptop:

HP ENVY - 15t Slim Quad Laptop,15t-q300 CTO (ENERGY STAR) (L6E55AV);

4th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4722HQ Quad Core Processor +

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 950M 4GB Discrete

Windows 10 64bit

connected to ext. disp ACER S241HL via HDMI to DVI cable.

Using same resolution 1920x1080 on laptop display and ext. diplay

I connet my external display to laptop  and everything fine. Laptop screen is duplicateted. After time (is vary, couple of hours or days) it dissconnect by itself and external display turn black. Sometimes after few second it comes back to normal or screen start jumpping between laptop display and ext. display. More often is just screen come back to laptop and I am try to project (win+P) screen to ext. display but windows respond with no action.

If I want to project screen screen back I have to disconnect HDMI cable and wait15 minutes and connect back a everything work until it happend again and problem  appears in shorter and shorter period after finnaly cant do anything iby this way.

Sometimes works to dissable intel 4600HD driver in Device manager but more often just unninstall  driver and after restart  windows install driver back(driver is updated to the latest) and everything is working until problem appears again.

It really annoying and I tried everything, problem present with WIN 7, 8.1 and 10. Try disable intel HD grafics and project screen with dedicated grafics but it unable to work like that.

I appreciate any help? Thank you.

@davinci12, thanks for the response.

Thanks for trying out the steps.

If you are using HDMI to DVI adapter there are chances that the adapter might be bad or not compatible.

I would suggest you replace the connector and check if it helps.

Also, download and install HP support assistant on your PC.

Check for latest updates and drivers.

Hi! @davinci12, Welcome to HP forums.

I understand that when the laptop screen is duplicated with HDMI connection the monitor gets disconnected intermittently.

Don't worry I will try to help you out.

Have you tried checking with a different HDMI cable?

Is the HDMI cable securely connected to the laptop?

I would suggest you update BIOS and chipset drivers on your laptop and check if it helps.

Update the BIOS using this link.

Also, update the chipset drivers using this link.

Let me know if this works!

Have a wonderful day ahead! 🙂

Thanks for answer.

I updated drivers but it isn't help.

I think problem can not be with cable becasuse it runnig different periods. And also if screen comes out of ext. display, I dissconnected HDMI, ext. display says "cable not connected" and if I plug cable in, ext. display says "no signal". I can buy new one but i don't think  it will help.

Is there any chance that cable HDMI to DVI as conversion is not compatibile? It's digital signal to digital signal, right?

                     I replace old cable with new cable and everything works great 5 days in row all day long so I consider problem as solved. I didn't expect that purchase new same brand cable would help. But I can't imagine what was wrong with cable, such specific problem. I thought that cables just work or not, but it was work and irregularly went down.

Thank you so uch for help. I really appriciate your advises, because it cost me lot of time and worries.
