No, they are NOT compatible. By the way the HP 255 G9 series does NOT support USB-C docks at all. Its specs

It ONLY has one hopeless USB-C port: USB 3.2 Gen 1.0 Type-C 5 Gbps signaling rate port (data transfer only; charging or external monitors not supported)
