HP Recommended

I have an HP Pavilion laptop and it is currently setup to an HP Compaq LA2405x with a DVI to USB and I recently bought a HP Compaq LA2405wg and have it hooked up through DisplayPort to HDMI but the laptop will not detect it at all.  I've updated the HP Pavilion with all updates that were showing in the HP Support Assistant.  I think I should also mention the computer is running Office 10.

 

Please help me figure this out.
