Hi~ I’m suffering for graphic issue almost 1 month with brand new laptop “ZBook15 Studio G3”.
Win10-64bit was installed when I get it from shop. And I had some problem in installing graphic driver in Win10-64bit. Some of NVIDIA control panel menu were missed when I set BIOS built-in graphic options to “Auto” and “Hybrid. So I set to “Discrete” graphic option in BIOS setup and I could find full NVIDIA control panel menu including screen resolution. So I had no choice but to set BIOS with “Discrete” option. I updated graphic driver with recent version.
The problem is,
Whenever I disconnect AC power, notebook(graphic) speed drastically get slow(became 20% of original speed). And if I connect AC power, then speed get back to normal. This happens always and repeatable. But sometimes, graphic speed is ok in battery mode. For example, speed looks ok in battery mode at the beginning and when I connect AC power it is still ok. But If I disconnect AC power, the speed get slow. The only way that I can keep consistent speed was disabling “Microsoft ACPI controller”. Once I disable this, graphic speed is always consistent in battery or AC power. But I think this is not proper action.
My questions are
(1) Setting “Discrete” graphic option in BIOS means that I will dedicate to use NVIDIA graphic card only. Which means graphic speed shall be almost consistent whether I use laptop with battery power or AC power. Am I right?
(2) Someone told me that user can select one graphic option between Hybrid or Discrete external graphic card with “ZBook 15 G3”. But “Zbook 15 Studio G3” was designed to run only with Hybrid mode so I cannot select to use external graphic card(M1000M) with BIOS setup. Is this right?
(3) Regarding slow down issue in battery mode, do you think this situation is normal?
I updated graphic driver / BIOS and calibrated battery. Thanks for reading and any comment / advice will be appreciated.
