The mouse keys on this (new) laptop are making a very loud clicking noise when pushed. It's annoying and distracting to others in the room. Is there ANYTHING I can do or get to muffle the sound???????

Thanks for reaching out to us on HP Support Forums. 🙂 I came across your post and would like to help.
I understand that you have an HP Notebook - 15-ay192nr and the keys make a loud click sound while typing.
I would like to know the following information to assist you better:
- Do all the keys work fine?
- Did any changes take place on the keyboard physically?
- Do all the keys produce a click sound?
Meanwhile, If few of the keys make noise then please check if the keys are stuck and follow the Stuck notebook key steps to fix.
If the keyboard looks misaligned then you can try to reseat the keyboard by following the steps from page no. 38 of the user guide.
If all the keys look normal and there is nothing that physically happened to the keyboard then I suggest ou may contact HP phone support to explore the service options for the keyboard.
Hope this information helps. Keep me posted. All the best! 🙂

I just received an HP 15-f233wm as a gift and the left and right mouse keys click SO LOUD, it wakes people up at night! The rest of the keyboard keys sound 'normal'. I just took this thing out of the box and there are no misaligned keys, no foreign bodies are somehow trapped underneath these keys. I have searched the Internet, user's manual and control panel far and wide and see NOTHING on how to change this feature.
Just the loud clicking alone is enough to have me wanting to return this laptop SERIOUSLY! Please provide a viable solution for this before I get put out on the porch!
