Hi

Laptop HP ProBook 455

Windows 7 Home Premium 64b Service Pack 1

4GB RAM

Display driver AMD Radeon HD 8750M: version 14.301.1003.1007

Display driver AMD Radeon HD 7420G: version 14.301.1003.1007

Screen brightness is set up to maximum at the system and also at the battery level (on MAX for plugged into Power and also on Battery).

The problem is like this:

You start the laptop, it boots into the Win7. Screen brightness is fine = on MAX.

Then you close the lid (display). The laptop goes to hibernate/sleep.

When you come back, open the lid and press the power button, the system starts up, but the screen is so dark that it seems almost as not working. What brings a little relief is, when you UNPLUG it from power and let it run on battery. Then the sreen gets a little brighter (would say 50 percent of brightness). When you plug the power back, it dim a little darker to something like 40 percent. And you have to reboot. Then the system starts normally.

Then again, if it goes to sleep/hibernate and you wake it up.. it fails.

This happens for a long time period, after several Windows upades passed, I have tried to update the graphics driver through Driver Booster, but it installs up till 95 percent and then a Blue Screen Of Death appears and I have to restore the system to the previous state using recovery.

Any advice highly appreciated.

Please save this laptops life otherwise I´ll pick up my hammer and .....

Thanks a lot!
