We purchased the laptop march of 2016. Last week we noticed a crack starting from just off center on top of the screen. The laptop has never left our home and has never been dropped or abused. We have 5 grown children and owned several laptops in the past, so this is not our first rodeo. The laptop performed well in all other areas so we were really disappointed that this happed. I can only imagine from the multiple posts on here, that this is a common flaw among this series. Shame on me for not researching it enough. Hp support would not cover the cost of repairs. I went ahead and paid the $210 to repair the screen. That amount will be nothing compared to the loss of future sale from our families and businesses. HP used to be a reputable name. Too bad
UPDATE: 05/11/16
Hp Customer Service called me and said they were not going to charge for the repairs. I mentioned to them the possible design flaw with the lens. I am happy they are addressing this issue and not having me pay for it. However, I wish they would do a recall and engineer a solution to this problem. Other than the lens cracking, this laptop functions very well and I would consider it a good purchase.
Update 06/14/16
Still do not have the computer back from HP support. They are saying the lens did not ship as scheduled and it will be delayed again. I'm wondering if I'll ever see my machine again? They did offer me a new one, but it could take 3 weeks as well. They should shop amazon. Screens for that machine in stock from multiple vendors all day long. Hmmmm
Anyway, I'll post any development as I get them.
