I downloaded the network drivers for the computer, but no luck, there are 6 devices in device manager that lack drivers, any suggestions? could it be a bad NIC?

Hi:

I only see windows 8.1 drivers, not W8.

Here are the links to the W8.1 drivers you need...

SMBus controller:  Install this driver first and restart the PC.

This package contains the Intel Chipset Installation Utility and Driver for supported notebook models and operating systems. This utility enables the operating system to show the correct name for the installed Intel hardware in the Microsoft Windows Device Manager.

PCI simple communications controller:

This package provides the Intel Management Engine Interface (MEI)Driver for the supported notebook models and operating systems. TheIntel Management Engine Interface enables communication between thehost operating system and the Intel Management Engine firmware.

Hi:

What is the full model number or product number of your notebook?

The product number can be found on the same sticker as the serial number.

Please post the hardware ID's for the 6 devices that need drivers.

To find the hardware ID, click on each device in the device manager.

Then click on the Details tab at the top of the device window.

Now you will see a Property drop down list, and it will be set to device description.

Drop down on that list and select the 2nd item (Hardware ID's).

Post the top string of characters that you see in the window.

Then I will post the links to the drivers you need for those devices.

Grand kids removed all the stickers, used g6s68ua#aba to obtain drivers from driver site. The devices are: Network controller, PCI simple communications controller, SM bus controler, Three unknown devises, the only thing I see in the details are: ACPI\VEN_HPQ&DEV_6007, ACPI\HPQ6007, *HPQ6007 for the first two and the third is ACPI\VEN_INT&DEV_33A0, ACP\NT33a0, and *INT33A0.
