Hi I'm getting a "can't connect to network" error message when I try to connect to my wifi.
The network adapter is a Realtek RTL8188EE.
I've reset winsocks, downloaded a more recent driver and reset the TCP/IP settings on my laptop, however I'm still getting a can't connect to network error message. The current driver version is 2023.5.130.2015.
All other devices are able to connect to our wifi. Please advise on what I can do to allow this laptop to connect to the wifi network.

I am having the same problem!!!! Every other device hooks up fine to Charter Internet wifi, however, my most important laptop will not. No one can figure it out. I have the same specs as you do ... have you found an answer?

Hi
Well can we be precise about the problem please.
I expect to be suggesting things already tried, but it is the only way I know.
So for both of you, the Device Manager shows the device as installed and healthy?
If not, does the Device Manager VIEW Show hidden devices include it.
======
As an adminstrator, in a Command Prompt Window, type
getmac
This will list MAC addresses for those items that are present, and may not be connected.
A good number would be 3,
1 x Ethernet
1 x Wi-Fi
1 x Bluetooth
and then type
ipconfig
and in the long list look for named devices have a matching MAC address.
Along with Device manager this is a way to determine the number of devices.
====================================
If it listed then is possibly a protocol issue.
So a ping test to your gateway, the number is likely to be 192.168.0.1 will be listed in the ipconfig and add 2 more.
ping 192.168.0.1
ping LOOPBACK
ping MICROSOFT.COM
Ping statistics for 192.168.0.1: Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
=============
At this point if all the above have been done and successful I would consider the troubleshooter below
And the result may be wrong in that it leads to the System Restore / Replace the adapter tab.
Is there actually a network there to connect to?
inSSIDer will run and show local networks, yours should be listed. http://inssider.en.softonic.com/
Mine is actually the Blue one, and I know it there to connect to.
So please report what status your adapter has achieved,
Installed, it lists networks with inSSIDer, it can ping.

Finally had to go to Best Buy and seek Geek help ... the wireless card was not up-to-par even though working fine with Verizon Wireless ... so, I bought a Netgear side plus in wireless N Adapter, N600 Dual Bank. Seems to do the job!

Hi
Oh dear!
Well I only did part of the job, I would have moved onto the bit directly underneath.
The Transmit Power option is well hidden, very small in my screenshot, but I could have included it earlier.
