Pavilion G4 2265
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I upgraded windows 7 to windows 10 and the wireless network card drive is not recognized by windows 10. The device manager shows in the other devices item a device named Network Controller with the interrogation symbol on top of it.

I checked the ID's Hardware option for PCI \ VEN_1814 & DEV_3290 & SUBSYS_191C103C & REV_00 and verified that it is related to Ralink RT3290 wireless card.

I downloaded the drivers to update the card, Windows 10 starts running the update but stops and the blue screen appears saying that a problem has been encountered and restarting the notebook without completing the driver update.

Why does not Windows 10 update the driver?
In the Device Manager I have the Realtek PCIe Family Network Adapter item and also the Network Controller item.

NOTE: What is the difference between the Network Adapter and the Network Controller that are appearing in my Device Manager?

Hi:

The network controller is the ralink wireless card in need of a driver.

The Realtek PCIe Family Network Adapter is the ethernet (wired) adapter.

There is only one available W10 wireless driver from HP and that is this one...

package contains the driver installation package for the Mediatek (Ralink) wireless LAN Controller in the supported notebook models running a supported operating system.

You will also need the W10 bluetooth driver for that model wlan card...
