Today I brought my computer out of sleep mode by opening the cover, which is what I do every morning and I noticed that the wireless indicator light on the F12 key was red/orange, which means it is not functioning. This has happened several times before and rebooting the PC always resets it. This time however, it did not reset. And when I clicked on the diagnosis link, it said the problem was that I didn't have an ethernet cable plugged into my computer. The existence of my Internal WiFi connector was gone. I plugged in and configured a USB WiFi adapter (Netgear N600) and it worked fine. But I would rather have the internal WiFi adaptor that was installed on my PC working again. Thanks for any direction and help anyone can give me.

Sometimes opening the back of the laptop (with it powered off) and reseating the wi-fi card will bring it back to life. But they are electronic and sometimes go bad and need to be replaced. Your model does not have a whitelist so you can install just about any wifi module of the correct form factor. The only caution is whether you have 2 antennae. Likely your model does. The wifi card is accessible inside the service panel on the back of the laptop. Post back if you need more help. If the wireless card needs replacement it is a DIY job and would cost under $30 US.

Kudos and thanks to you Huffer for your rapid response to my wifi adapter card issue. I hadn't taken the cover off the bottom prior to this and I didn't realize that the wifi adapter was so accessible and replaceable. I removed the two antennae, removed the card and reseated it and it's working again now. If the problem resurfaces, I'll just purchase a new card at that point. So appreciative of your response!
